Setting up your emails in Gmail on Android

  1. Open Gmail App: Open the Gmail app on your Android device. If you haven’t installed it, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
  2. Add Account:
    • Tap on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner.
    • Scroll down and tap on “Settings”.
    • Tap on “Add account”.
  3. Choose Account Type:
    • Select “Personal (IMAP/POP)” or “Other” depending on the version of the Gmail app you’re using.
  4. Enter Email Address:
    • Enter your email address and tap “Next”.
  5. Enter Password:
    • Enter the password for your email account and tap “Next”.
  6. Configure IMAP Settings:
    • Choose “IMAP”.
    • Enter the IMAP server provided by your email provider (e.g., imap.example.com).
    • Enter your full email address as the username.
    • Enter your email account password.
    • Enter the port number for the incoming server (usually 993).
    • Choose whether to use SSL/TLS encryption (recommended).
    • Tap “Next”.
  7. Configure SMTP Settings:
    • Enter the SMTP server provided by your email provider (e.g., smtp.example.com).
    • Enter your full email address as the username.
    • Enter your email account password.
    • Enter the port number for the outgoing server (usually 587).
    • Choose whether to use SSL/TLS encryption (recommended).
    • Tap “Next”.
  8. Set Account Options:
    • Choose your sync preferences, such as how often you want the app to check for new emails and whether to sync contacts and calendar.
    • Tap “Next”.
  9. Finish Setup:
    • Enter the name you want to display on outgoing messages.
    • Tap “Next”.
    • Your email account is now set up in the Gmail app on your Android device, and you can start using it to send and receive emails.
