My Story
After completing my degree at Loughborough University I spent the first few years of my career working at Computer Doctor North East, which was based at Larpool Lane Industrial Estate in Whitby.
Alongside small business IT support and sales I developed numerous websites and began writing web-based software to help businesses operate more efficiently.
In 2010 I became self employed. Initially I worked from home, and later moved into an office in town. The office building had previously been a public toilet, but was converted into a bright, airy and peaceful space conveniently positioned at the top end of Skinner Street.

Between 2010 and 2021 I worked with a wide range of businesses and other organisations, providing design and technology services including website development, hosting, SEO and social media management.
By 2021 I was ready for a change and was offered the opportunity to join the team at Nature's Laboratory as Director of Technology. This was a challenging but exciting role. I was able to use my expertise to develop new IT systems, design several new websites and build a bespoke factory management system.
Hello Technology Ltd was founded in spring 2024. Having spent several years working in a larger organisation I realised that I missed the flexibility of freelance work and decided to return to self-employment.
Whilst Hello Technology is a new company, it is also the continuation of much that has come before. I continue to work with Whitby's small businesses and other organisations around the UK. I am looking forward to continuing to grow as a designer and developer and helping my clients make the most of the internet.
Beyond Work
I live in Whitby with my family. We love living by the sea and enjoying the wonderful surrounding countryside. I’m a keen runner and particularly enjoy running the Cleveland Way between Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. We’re part of Grace Community Church in Loftus.
Office Van
I'm currently renovating a 1991 VW California, hoping to convert it into my 'office on wheels'.

My Values
Honesty
I act with honesty and integrity, making recommendations which are appropriate and offer real benefit to each client. I am transparent and open, answering questions with accuracy, giving my clients enough information to make informed choices.
Flexibility
I tailor my services to each client, seeking to work in a way which best suits them, their team and their existing practices. Wherever possible and practical I seek to work around client constraints, reducing friction and encouraging collaboration.
Commitment
I’m in this for the long haul. I seek to establish long-term client relationships, becoming an integral part of their team and providing on-going support. I love seeing my clients and their organisations succeed, reaching and exceeding their goals.
Professionalism
I deliver a high quality and efficient service. I regularly invest time in improving my skills as a designer and developer and seek to stay up to date with the latest technologies and techniques. I favour a long-lasting and robust approach to web development, over flash in the pan fads.
Quality
My excellent reputation ensures the future sustainability of Hello Technology. I’ve worked closely with many of my clients for well over a decade, many of who have recommended me to others. My clients know they can trust me to deliver high quality design and technology services.
