AI, the human way

A real person who uses AI well — so you don't have to worry about it.

AI is moving fast, and that's exactly why it helps to have someone in your corner. I keep up with the tools so you don't have to, then put the ones that genuinely help to work for your business.

You get the time-savings, without the risk, the hype, or the jargon. And if AI isn't the right answer, I'll tell you that too.

Common questions

Good to know.

Where are you based and what areas do you cover?

I’m based in Whitby, North Yorkshire, and work with organisations across the UK. Many of my clients are local businesses on the Yorkshire Coast and in the North York Moors area — including Whitby, Scarborough, Middlesbrough, and York — but I work just as comfortably with clients nationally, primarily remotely with occasional in-person visits where it’s useful.

How much does a website cost?

Every project is different, so I don’t publish fixed prices. A simple small business website typically starts from around £1,500, while more complex projects involving ecommerce, booking systems or bespoke web applications vary considerably. The best first step is a free initial conversation where I can understand what you need and give you an accurate quote.

How long does it take to build a website?

A straightforward website typically takes four to eight weeks from initial brief to launch. More complex projects — ecommerce stores, booking systems, or bespoke web applications — take longer depending on scope. I’ll always agree a realistic timeline with you before work begins.

Do you work with small businesses and sole-traders?

Yes — the majority of my clients are small businesses and sole traders, and I’ve been working with them for nearly two decades. I understand the pressures of running a small business, which is why I offer flexible, ongoing support rather than handing over a finished website and disappearing.

Can you help with SEO so my business appears in local search results?

Yes. Every website I build is optimised for search engines from day one, and I offer ongoing SEO support for clients who want to improve their visibility over time. For local businesses on the Yorkshire Coast this typically includes optimising your Google Business Profile, targeting location-specific keywords, and building content that demonstrates your expertise in your area.

Do you offer ongoing support after my website launches?

Yes — I deliberately work this way. Rather than treating each project as a one-off, I aim to become a long-term partner for my clients, providing hosting, maintenance, content updates, SEO and whatever else keeps your website working hard for your business.

I already have a website — can you take it over or improve it?

Absolutely. I regularly take over existing websites, whether that means a full redesign, improving SEO performance, fixing technical issues, or simply providing ongoing support and hosting. If you’re unhappy with your current site or the support you’re receiving, get in touch and I’ll take a look.

What's the difference between website design and website development?

Design covers the visual side — how your website looks, the layout, colours, typography, and overall feel. Development is the technical build — the code that makes it work, the content management system, forms, booking systems and so on. I handle both, which means nothing gets lost in translation between the two.

Got a project, or just a question?

Drop me a line and you’ll get a friendly, jargon-free reply from me — usually the same day.
