Week Notes – 18th July

Monday

Spent most of the day wrangling the Staithes Festival programme into shape. I’d got on top of some of the boring stuff during my time spent in airports last week. It’s all coming together, but there’s a surprising amount of work involved in assembling a 48 page document!

Tuesday

Caught up with some email and then went to work from a client’s office. I’m migrating their emails into Office365. Bulk of the preliminary stuff done today, should get finished off on Thursday. Delayed due to staff illness.

Continued working on the Staithes Festival programme and website updates for clients.

Started supporting another Shopify client, providing some training on how to improve their UX and SEO for their model railway kits store. They also offer a custom modelling service, creating replicas of railway buildings and infrastructure. Check out forgemodelworks.co.uk for all the details.

Wednesday

Got asked to be part of the WeAreDevelopers weekly developer show:

Did some white-labelled SEO work on behalf of a marketing consultancy.

Thursday

Had a couple of meetings with clients in the morning. Discussing future work including more bespoke software development, SEO, social media management and so on. I always love catching up with clients at their place of work – getting to see behind the scenes really helps me understand how they work, their capacity and so on. Always helpful.

Integrated Stripe payments into a clients website to remove the need for an outdated e-commerce setup. Used some custom fields to enable customers to enter invoice/reference numbers and so on during checkout. Powerful stuff.

Friday

Phone calls, meetings, Staithes Festival, Whitby Lit Fest stuff as well as meeting with Richard about some training I’ll be helping deliver later in the year. Busy day.

Now packing to go on holiday.
