Setting up your emails in Outlook

  1. Open Outlook: Launch Microsoft Outlook on your computer. Ensure that you have a stable internet connection.

    • In Outlook, go to the “File” menu at the top left corner.
    • Click on “Info” and then select “Add Account”.
  3. Choose Email Account Type:
    • In the “Add Account” window, select “Manual setup or additional server types” and click “Next”.
  4. Choose Email Service:
    • Select “POP or IMAP” and click “Next”.
  5. Enter Account Information:
    • Fill in your name and the email address you want to set up.
    • Under “Account Type”, select “IMAP”.
    • Incoming mail server: Enter the IMAP server provided by your email provider (e.g., imap.example.com).
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Enter the SMTP server provided by your email provider (e.g., smtp.example.com).
    • Enter your full email address as the username.
    • Enter your email account password.
    • Click on “More Settings” to configure additional settings.
  6. Configure Incoming Server Settings:
    • In the “Internet Email Settings” window, go to the “Outgoing Server” tab.
    • Check the box that says “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”.
    • Select “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”.
  7. Configure Advanced Settings:
    • Go to the “Advanced” tab.
    • Set the incoming server (IMAP) port to 993.
    • Choose SSL/TLS encryption for both incoming and outgoing servers.
    • Set the outgoing server (SMTP) port to 587.
    • Select “TLS” for the encrypted connection.
    • Click “OK” to save your settings.
  8. Test Account Settings:
    • Click on the “Test Account Settings” button to check if Outlook can connect to your email account.
    • Outlook will attempt to log in to the incoming and outgoing mail servers using the provided settings.
    • If everything is configured correctly, you should see a series of green checkmarks indicating successful connections.
  9. Finish Setup:
    • Once the test is successful, click “Next” and then “Finish” to complete the setup process.
    • Outlook will now start synchronizing your email account, and you should see your emails appearing in the inbox shortly.

Your IMAP email account is now set up in Outlook, and you can start using it to send and receive emails. If you encounter any issues during the setup process, double-check your settings and consult your email provider’s documentation for assistance.
