Easter weekend has been and gone. So much to be thankful for! As a Christian Easter is a time of celebration – of remebrance yes, but also of looking to the future with hope. The cross is empty. Jesus is alive.
The hateful acts perpetrated in Sri Lanka this weekend remind me that the world is broken. That there is much to be sad about. We grieve with the families who have lost loved ones, and those whose lives will be forever marred by the horrific actions of the bombers.
But the empty cross of Easter is a symbol of hope. The Easter story reminds us of God’s love – the lengths he was willing to go in order to rescue a sinful humanity. There is, in Jesus, something beyond our own circumstances and understanding that we can hold onto in the face of desperate adversity, a solid foundation and the answer to every longing.
The weather was amazing and my brother and his wife were visiting which meant lots of fun and lots of food. We explored the woods near Falling Foss, enjoyed a pint at Whitby Brewery and my children were kindly given a drum kit, which will be well-loved and well-used in our increasingly musical home.
This has been a good week. From a work perspective I’m feeling far more productive. Some of the projects I’ve had on my ‘to-do’ list are finally being completed, freeing me up mentally to work on other stuff.
Over this coming week I hope to finish off a few more little projects. I’d also like to give some time to a larger project which has been on the back burner lately and line stuff up for May so that the coming months run a little smoother than the start of 2019 did.
Feeling more positive.
