Business Card Design for Professional Gardener

This post is old. It may contain broken links, missing images and incorrect information.

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been working with Robert Golding – a professional gardener setting up a new business here in Whitby.

He asked me to design a logo which could be used on business cards, leaflets and on his work vehicle. He wanted something which looked professional and of a high quality – reflecting the values of his business. But he also wanted something which would speak of traditional skills and techniques, but with a modern approach. So not entirely straight forward!

We settled on a modern take on a crest, or shield. Something which is generally associated with days gone by, but we’ve updated it.

Using strong colours, a classic serif typeface (Merriweather) and modern illustrations of traditional gardening tools Rob’s new logo looks great – we’re both really pleased with how it’s turned out.

Just had a look and it’s great. It’s exactly what I was thinking.

Once the leaflets have arrived and the vinyl’s been applied to his Land Rover I’ll write this up as a proper case study. But for now, here are some shots of his business cards – printed on 400gsm silk board and matt laminated for a really smooth and high-quality feel.
