DotYork Conference 2015

This post is old. It may contain broken links, missing images and incorrect information.

Last week I had the great pleasure of attending the DotYork Conference. It ran over two days, with workshops on the first and the conference itself on the second.

Shopify with Keir Whitaker

Although I’d been tempted by several of the workshop topics, I didn’t actually book my ticket until it was nearly too late.

Fortunately, there was still room in the Shopify group. And by the end of the day I was more than glad that I’d attended.

It was informative and practical, with real insight into the whole Shopify ecosystem.

I’ve yet to determine my ecommerce platform of choice. But after this fantastic introduction, I’ll definitely be trying out Shopify in the future. It’s the bees knees.

The Conference – Great Speakers and a Great Venue

The whole conference day was fantastic. But my standout talks came from Seb Lee-Delisle and Brendan Dawes, both digital artists.

There were snippets of useful information provided by all the speakers. Some providing excellent practical ideas to help us do our jobs better. Others offering insight into what the future might hold for our industry.

Rick (@rickary) did an amazing job putting the whole thing together. And I’ll be booking my ticket for next year as soon as I can!

Being Part of a Community

It was definitely good to be out of the office for a couple of days. Meeting new people, learning from others’ experiences.

It’s so easy to stay glued to a screen in this job. But life is about people, relationships and community. It’s good to be reminded of that!

DotYork Around the Web

You can see some of @jimpoyner‘s great photos from the day here. And there’s a video of Joe Leech’s talk ‘How to Design with Science’ available here. Oh, and of course, the DotYork website is here.
